Job Description

Virgin Active South Africa is looking for a Service Ambassador to deliver an exceptional in-club member experience. This role focuses on engaging members across reception, exercise areas, studios, swimming facilities, and lounge spaces, while supporting member retention through daily interaction and excellent service.

The Service Ambassador plays a key role in ensuring members feel welcomed, supported, and motivated both in-club and through Virgin Active’s digital platforms.


Key Responsibilities

Front of House Duties

  • Manage access control into the facility

  • Provide information to members, prospective members, and staff

  • Ensure a positive member experience from entry to exit

  • Adhere to operational standards and administrative procedures

Member Engagement

  • Deliver excellent customer service to achieve member satisfaction targets

  • Encourage digital engagement with Virgin Active platforms

  • Promote personalised fitness and digital exercise offerings

  • Build strong member relationships and resolve queries or complaints

  • Support fitness initiatives and events to increase member retention

Floor Experience

  • Promote safe exercise practices

  • Ensure adherence to club rules and safety protocols

  • Maintain cleanliness and standards on the exercise floor

Training and Development

  • Participate in ongoing training and self-development activities


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate or NQF Level 4 equivalent

  • Successful completion of Reception Academy

  • Minimum 12 months experience in a face-to-face customer service role

  • Good understanding of digital platforms

  • Knowledge of Virgin Active exercise experiences

  • Understanding of customer journey and service standards

  • Ability to resolve member queries professionally

  • People-centred and passionate about fitness

  • First Aid Level 1 certificate (advantage)
